After the successful «Biologie Prospective» Santorini meetings in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2012 we would like to invite you to participate in the seventh one in 2014.
It will be co-organized with the European Society of Pharmacogenomics and Theranostics (ESPT - www.esptnet.eu).
The aim of this meeting is to bring together, laboratory medicine specialists, pharmacologists, clinicians, scientists from pharmaceutical and biotechnological industries, geneticists, hospital pharmacists and epidemiologists for discussing how variability in the human genome, in the protein expressed and in the circulatory metabolites could be helpful and used for:
- Prediction of risks, particularly in multifactorial diseases: cardiovascular diseases, Alzheimer, cancer…
- Evaluation of environmental risks: screening individual responses to nutrition, alcohol, tobacco, exercise and life habits.
- Pharmacogenomics: measuring the individual responses to drugs, including the interactions with endogenous compounds.
The necessary tools and models for achieving these targets will be presented in the systems biology systems medicine spirit.
We have builded a preliminary scientific programme and your last propositions are welcome. 2 young scientists selected from the first abstracts submitted could be granted and 2 poster prices will be attributed.
Santorini is the more extraordinary island of the Aegean, given its present unusual and striking nature by earthquakes and a volcanic eruption. Some people claim Santorini to be a remnant of the lost Atlantis, while archeological evidence demonstrates a highly developed culture dating back to the Neolithic Era. Minoans, Mycenaeans and Classical Hellenes as well as Phoenicians, Romans and Venetians left their marks on this unique little island. We will think together about these population migrations.
Please reserve your original contribution for this meeting and send as soon as possible a title and an abstract. We hope that you will be with us for contributing to a better use of Omic tests for all citizens, patients in the future.
The President,
Prof Gérard Siest
