L’université de Lorraine et le CNRS, à travers les UMR IMoPa, LPCT et CRM2, ont la chance cette année d’organiser la 35ème édition du Regiomeeting rhénan de biologie structurale. Cette manifestation se déroulera du 5 au 7 octobre 2022 au bord du lac de Gérardmer (FR-88400).
Contexte :
La biologie structurale étudie comment la position spatiale relative des atomes composant les molécules leur permet de remplir leurs fonctions biologiques au sein des organismes vivants. Elle englobe des techniques permettant une précision jusqu’au 10ème de nanomètre comme la RMN, la cristallographie des rayons X, la microscopie électronique… L’utilisation de ses techniques, couplée à des études de biochimie et biophysique, aboutit à un ensemble de données complémentaires sur les protéines, les ADN, ARN, lipides…, à partir duquel les mécanismes du vivant nous deviennent progressivement connus. Ces informations sont à l’origine de notre compréhension de processus vitaux et permettent par exemple d’expliquer le développement cellulaire, de concevoir vaccins et médicaments ou encore d’optimiser des procédés biotechnologiques.
Thématiques :
Dans une atmosphère conviviale et décontractée, une centaine de scientifiques issus de la recherche publique et de l’industrie pharmaceutique se rassemblent chaque année autour de la biologie structurale intégrative, son apport, ses limites et ses avancées. Initialement centré sur les régions française, suisse et allemande du bassin rhénan, ce meeting a gagné en renommée et s’étend progressivement à travers ces pays. La 35ème édition, organisée à Gérardmer (Vosges) par trois laboratoires nancéens, a l’honneur d’accueillir le Dr. S. Jacob de Novartis à Bâle, le Pr. Dr. W. Kuehlbrandt de l’institut Max Planck de Francfort et le Dr. S. Grudinin du CNRS à Grenoble.

Soutenu notamment par l’université de Lorraine et l’université franco-allemande (UFA), le Regiomeeting favorise les discussions entre doctorants, postdoctorants, et scientifiques expérimentés. Des sessions composées de conférences courtes permettent aux plus jeunes de réaliser leur première présentation dans un contexte international.

[Congress] Rhine-Knee-Regional Meeting 2022 on Structural Biology
The University of Lorraine and the CNRS, through the UMR IMoPa, LPCT and CRM2, have the opportunity this year to organize the 35th edition of the Rhine-Knee Regiomeeting on Structural Biology. This event will take place from October 5 to 7, 2022 in Gérardmer (FR-88400).
Background:
Structural biology studies how the relative spatial position of atoms composing molecules allows them to fulfil their biological functions within living organisms. It encompasses techniques allowing a precision up to the 10th of nanometre such as NMR, X-ray crystallography, electron microscopy... The use of these techniques, coupled with biochemical and biophysical studies, leads to a set of complementary data on proteins, DNA, RNA, lipids..., from which the mechanisms of living organisms become progressively known. This information is at the origin of our understanding of vital processes and allows us, for example, to explain cell development, to design vaccines and drugs or to optimize biotechnological processes.
Thematic:
In a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, about one hundred scientists from public research and the pharmaceutical industry gather each year to discuss integrative structural biology, its contribution, its limits and its advances. Initially centred on the French, Swiss and German regions of the Rhine basin, this meeting has gained in reputation and is gradually extending across these countries. The 35th edition, organized in Gérardmer (Vosges) by three laboratories of the Université de Lorraine, has the honour to welcome Dr. S. Jacob from Novartis in Basel, Pr. Dr. W. Kuehlbrandt from the Max Planck Institute in Frankfurt and Dr. S. Grudinin from CNRS in Grenoble.
Practical information:
Supported mainly by the Franco-German University (UFA) and the Université de Lorraine, Regiomeeting promotes discussions between PhD students, postdocs, and experienced scientists. Sessions consisting of short lectures allow young people to make their first presentation in an international context.
