L’économie circulaire au cœur de la stratégie européenne du site lorrain
L’Université de Lorraine, dans le cadre de sa stratégie européenne ambitieuse portée par le projet REIL (Reinforcing the European Impact of the Lorraine academic site), organise un événement interne majeur sur le thème de l’économie circulaire. Cet événement, prévu le 12 juin 2025 à Nancy, s’inscrit dans les priorités stratégiques du site lorrain, en particulier autour de l’axe "Industrie 5.0 et numérique" et "Ressources naturelles et environnement". L’ensemble de l’événement se déroulera en français.
Un objectif clair: renforcer l’ancrage européen de la recherche lorraine
L’événement a pour vocation de sensibiliser les communautés scientifiques locales à l’importance de la recherche dans la prise de décision européenne, tout en mettant en lumière les activités du Service d’Appui à la Stratégie Européenne (SD-ASE). À travers des échanges entre chercheurs, représentants institutionnels et experts européens et locaux, il s'agit de faire émerger de nouvelles dynamiques de participation aux politiques européennes de la recherche et aux financements européens.
Une thématique transversale au cœur des enjeux européens
L’économie circulaire, domaine pluridisciplinaire par excellence, sera explorée à travers trois grandes thématiques :
- Le rôle de la recherche dans le Plan d’action européen pour l’économie circulaire ;
- Economie circulaire et la société ;
- La participation des communautés de recherche aux décisions européennes.
Ces sujets seront abordés via des interventions de haut niveau et des tables rondes réunissant des experts de la Commission européenne, des réseaux nationaux thématiques (GTN), des experts européens, nationaux et locaux, ainsi que des chercheurs du site lorrain.
Une journée structurée autour du dialogue et de la réflexion stratégique
La journée se déroulera sur le Campus Lettres , Espace Déléage à Nancy, avec une matinée dédiée à la présentation du projet REIL par Cyrille Raymond, Directeur d’ingénierie de Projets et de la Stratégie Europe (DIPRO-SE), et de la Sous-direction Appui à la Stratégie Europe du Site Lorrain (SD-ASE) par Nicolas Dupuy, Sous-directeur. L’après-midi sera quant à elle consacrée aux panels de discussion thématiques, animés par une modératrice reconnue, où les échanges viseront à faire dialoguer science, politique et société autour des défis de l’économie circulaire.
Un levier pour une meilleure intégration dans les politiques européennes
Cet événement s’inscrit pleinement dans la logique de gouvernance mise en place par REIL, articulée autour d’un comité de pilotage, d’un comité opérationnel, et du comité Stratégie Europe. Il contribue à alimenter le schéma directeur en cours d’élaboration, destiné à assurer la cohérence entre stratégie européenne et mobilisation autour des appels à projets.
En offrant un espace de dialogue structuré et stratégique, l’Université de Lorraine affirme sa volonté de jouer un rôle moteur dans les débats européens autour de la recherche et de l’innovation, et de faire du site lorrain un véritable hub d’influence sur les grands enjeux de demain.

Circular Economy at the Heart of the European Strategy for the Lorraine Academic Site
As part of its ambitious European strategy, driven by the REIL project (Reinforcing the European Impact of the Lorraine academic site), the University of Lorraine is organizing a major internal event focused on the circular economy. Scheduled for 12 June 2025 in Nancy, this event aligns with the Lorraine site’s strategic priorities, particularly within the thematic areas of "Industry 5.0 and Digitalization" and "Natural Resources and Environment". Please note that the entire event will be conducted in French.
A Clear Objective: Strengthening the European Footprint of Lorraine’s Research
The event aims to raise awareness among the local scientific communities about the crucial role of research in European decision-making, while showcasing the activities of the European Strategy Support Service (SD-ASE). Through dialogue between researchers, institutional representatives, and European experts, the goal is to foster new dynamics for participating in EU research policies and EU funding programmes.
A Cross-cutting Theme at the Core of European Challenges
The multidisciplinary nature of the circular economy will be addressed through three main discussion themes :
- The role of research in the European Circular Economy Action Plan ;
- Circular economy and society ;
- The participation of research communities in EU-level decision-making.
These topics will be explored through high-level panels and discussions featuring experts from the European Commission, national thematic groups (GTN), European, national and local experts, and researchers from the Lorraine site.
A Day Structured Around Strategic Dialogue and Reflection
Held on Campus Lettres at the Espace Déléage in Nancy, the event will begin with a morning session featuring a presentation of the REIL project by Cyrille Raymond, Director of Project Engineering and Strategy Europe (DIPRO-SE), and an overview of the Europe Strategy Support Sub-Directorate of the Lorraine site (SD-ASE) by its deputy director, Nicolas Dupuy. The afternoon will be dedicated to thematic panel discussions, moderated by a renowned expert, aiming to spark dialogue between science, policy, and society on the challenges of the circular economy.
A Lever for Better Integration into European Policies
This event is fully aligned with the governance framework of the REIL project, which includes a steering committee, an operational committee, and the European Strategy Committee. It contributes to the development of a forthcoming master plan designed to ensure coherence between the European strategy and mobilization around funding calls.
By providing a structured and strategic platform for dialogue, the University of Lorraine reaffirms its ambition to take a leading role in European research and innovation discussions, positioning the Lorraine site as a true hub of excellence and influence on tomorrow’s major issues.
